Table is for life, not just for Christmas (and Beer Festivals)

Hartlepool Round Table has had yet another fantastic year, raising valuable funds to support local charities. The organisation which is based at One77 on York Road has given away more than £6400 to worthwhile causes and charities in Hartlepool and the surrounding area.

The charity which has been in Hartlepool since the early 1930s is made up of 11 guys who organise events such as: The Annual Santa Tour, The Boxing Day Dip and The Hartlepool Beer Festival, which is now in its 23rd year and is held at The Borough Hall in every October.

The Boxing Day Dip this year saw almost 500 crazy individuals run, walk or crawl into the freezing North Sea which in turn raises money for the individuals charity or organisation, people young and older raise money for Cancer support, Rugby clubs, hospice charities, and dancing groups to name but a few. It is estimated that over £75,000 was raised for local good causes this year.

More recently they had resurrected the Santa Tour, where Santa's sleigh tours Hartlepool delighting thousands of children and their families for the last 2 years, this year is looking to include an extra route to include more of the town.

Paul Thompson (Chairman 2018/19) said,  “The next year will be full of challenges that will test the members of Hartlepool Round Table. It will be a great deal of fun with the forthcoming calendar we have planned and very rewarding to see local charities benefit. This year the two main charities that will be benefactors from the Beer Festival will be Hartlepool Carers and Hartlepool Lifeboat, both of which provide vital support to the people of Hartlepool”

The Round Table Great Britain & Ireland is a non-political, non-sectarian association open to men between the ages of 18 & 45, from any profession or trade.
